I first got involved in packgoats in 2001, I saw my first packgoats at the Puyallup Sportsman show in Western Washington in 2001, and from there I was hooked.  I use my goats extensively on fishing, deer, and elk hunting excursions, Mostly in Washington's Cascade range, but occasionally in the Olympic Mtns.  I am currently working on opening an outfitting business, and plan on opening spring 2007. Thanks, Jim Bennett, Wethers' Field Packgoats.

PANTHER CREEK PACKGOATS: Tim and I heard about packing with goats from our brother-inlaw at a family Christmas gathering many years ago. We figured it would be a great way to get our (then ) young family in the backcountry. Deanne is a retired Park Ranger, and loves to backpack, and does Tim. Due to a neck injury, carrying a heavy backpack was no longer an option for Deanne. Goats have made backcountry outings possible again! We have been raising packgoats for 9 years. Gobi (pictured with the Privratsky's under the Oregon listings) is from our herd. We currently have Sannan and Sannan/Alpine and Sannan/Nubian crosses. They have participated in parades, trail clean-ups, renaissance fairs, and packing. Summer 2004 we will be on the trail with our goats as new volunteer Wilderness Stewards.

I have a de-horned saanen/alpine wether that is for sale. He is coming 2 this spring and is about 34-35" at the shoulder and about 180 lbs. He carries a pack and has been shown as a pack goat in 4-H. I had 22lbs on him today after him being a pasture bum all winter and he did great.

I've been goatpacking since about 1994. My children were involed for several years with 4H packgoats. I assisted in leadership with the local club and now judge the local 4H Packgoat compititions. The goats have assisted me in packing in my camps for week plus outings. I've used them when I've been successful archery hunting to pack out my elk.
