We would like to have a new section added called "huntin with Goats" It would talk about hunting with goats. We are new to goat packing and hunting with goats but are learning and experimenting with some new techniques. We would be happy to be a countact for others who have some of the same interests, questions or answers.

I have 9 wonderful goats, 4 are packgoats (3 BoerX wethers and 1 nonbreeding Nubian doe) 4 are dairy does (3 Saanan and 1 Apine) and 1 Nubian buck. I have been on many day hikes with my caprine companions mostly in the foothills north of Salt Lake City. I'm looking forward to summer 2005 when the boys will be big enough to carry equipment for overnight packing/camping.

New to goat packing and loving it! I have five wethers. Tallis and Boomer (Alpines I think) Tucker (Saanen/Boer and something else). Scout (Saanen, Alpine, etc) and Louie who was found on a pack trip into the Uintas. I think he could be Toggenburg but someone else will have to look at him and tell me what they think.  Scout and Tucker have horns, the rest do not. Tallis, Boomer and Louie are all older, the other two are yearlings.

I have been a backpacker all my life, and in 1998 I read about goats packing and decided it would be a good way to take my young kids packing. I now have 6 goats. Check out my web site of some of my camping trips.. www.geocities.com/hansedj

I started packing with goats in 1999. I currently have 10 wethers, mostly Alpine and a couple of Saanan. Our trips to the Wind River mountains have been truly amazing. We go places I would have never made it to and I take along family members that would not be able to go without the strength of the goats. We have also had some great elk and deer hunting experiences.

We have been packing with goats sense 1994 We have done many 100 mile hikes with the goats we will go out for up to 15 day at a time.  We are one of the few that rent our goats out to other people for their hikes.  We now have 13 goats of different breads and mixes.
